Cinque Terre: Beaches, Buildings and Booze Buckets

To avoid the 99* weather in Florence, it seems like the whole city flocked to the beach. So, we decided to beat the heat with a day at Cinque Terre, which means “Five Lands,” and I got the opportunity to visit three out of the five beautiful cliff side towns.

We started the day at Manarola. This small Italian town was so picturesque it almost looked fake.

From Manarola we took the train to Riomaggiore, another picture perfect town. I had the infamous Pesto Pizza from Mamma Mia for lunch, and it was delicious. This region is known for their pesto and lemons.

From there we took the train to Monterosso, the beach town. The first stop was for ‘drunk buckets’ which are 30-40 oz drinks made with fresh fruit right in front of you. Then we headed to the beach. The rocks killed our feet but an afternoon in the sun and in the Mediterranean was much needed.
